Lorenzo Perilli (1964) is Full Professor of Classical Philology at Tor Vergata University of Rome, and the Director of the transdisciplinary Research Centre in Classics, Mathematics and Philosophy “Forms of Knowledge in the Ancient World”. His regular teaching activity also includes classes on European Thought and on the History of Ancient Science. After having been a Research Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Munich, Berlin, and Hamburg, and a Visiting Scholar at several Universitites and Research Institutions in the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, he was given the Bessel International Research Award in Germany in 2007, and research awards by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and the Ministry for Cultural Heritage in Italy. His research interests include ancient medicine, philosophy and science, philology and textual criticism, European thought, and humanities computing. He has written, translated or edited 20 books, and is the author of about 90 articles and book chapters.
